The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (The Federation) is the world’s largest humanitarian organisation. The Federation has been working with Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) for more than 30 years and also with other Participating National Societies in humanitarian fields mainly disaster response and management, cyclone preparedness, disaster relief, recovery & rehabilitation, Health, community based disaster preparedness, risk reduction and mitigation, etc.
German Red Cross Dhaka Office of the International Federation of Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement is searching for experienced staff (male/female) for a 10 months assignment with possible extension starting as soon as possible.

These positions are based in Hatiya, Noakhali and shall report to the German Red Cross Bangladesh
Community Mobilizer, SHELTER
The overall responsibility of the Community Mobilizer (SHELTER) is to ensure that the constructions of shelter are implemented as set out in the project proposal. To coordinate with the households, suppliers and skilled labor for timely implementation of project activities. To assure participation of the communities. To implement activities in the community level and provide training with adequate information and tools-
  • Specific duties and responsibilities:
  • Support the implementation of SHELTER activities in four Unions under Hatiya upzila in line with the plan of action.
  • Responsible for organizing activities related to the project, such as Beneficiary Selection, Baseline Survey, Site selection for Shelter options, Supervision of construction works.,  Ensure quality of goods and works. Assist in necessary permission taking from respective authority(s), Trainings, Workshops, Awareness raising sessions and rallies. Assist in Distributions and End line survey etc.
  • Mobilize the community in being involved in all project operation aspects.
  • Ensure the implementation of structural mitigation activities along with community contribution.
  • Ensure that the project achieves the required results.
  • Support and assist the logistical department or contractor for the purchase/supply of specific materials for program activities.
  • Plan and supervise the program implementation, meet deadlines and adhere to predefined technical specifications.
  • Supervise and provide support for the Volunteers to monitor and evaluate the implemented program activities.
  • Conduct regular field visits, monitor, collect data, keep project information updated, write regular reports and submit to project manager on time.
  • Coordinate with BDRCS volunteers, branches, and government and other stakeholders, where appropriate.
  • Conduct any other duty as assigned by supervisor
Person Specification:
  • Bachelor, Diploma in Civil Engineering or Degree in related field
  • Minimum of 3 years work experience in a related field
  • Experience of working within the RC/RC Movement
  • Experience of working in rural areas
  • Valid driving licence for motorbikes
  • Sound interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Fluent in English and Bangla
  • High level of attention to details in all aspects of work responsibilities
  • Training and presentation skill
  • Report writing skill
Community Mobilizer, WASH
The overall responsibility of the Community Mobilizer (WASH) is to ensure that the constructions of sanitation facilities (latrines) are implemented as set out in the project proposal. To coordinate with the households, suppliers and skilled labor for timely implementation of project activities. To assure participation of the communities. To implement activities in the community level and provide training with adequate information and tools-
Specific duties and responsibilities:
  • Support the implementation of WASH activities in four Unions under Hatiya upzila in line with the plan of action.
  • Responsible for organizing activities related to the project, such as Beneficiary Selection, Baseline Survey, Site selection for Sanitation options, Supervision of construction works.,  Ensure quality of goods and works. Community Mobilizer, Livelihood
The overall responsibility of the Community Mobilizer (LIVELIHOOD) is to ensure that the participating beneficiaries are accountable in project relevant activities and implementing properly. Mobilizing the beneficiaries to participate in the project, arranging trainings, supervising volunteers are major responsibilities of Community Mobilizer.
  • Specific duties and responsibilities:
  • Co responsible to conduct initial meetings in community on Livelihood component of the project.
  • Co responsible to participate in the beneficiary selection, baseline survey and other data collection activities.
  • Conduct meetings/sessions in community level.
  • Ensure women participation in meetings
  • Sensitize community about the project activities.
  • Facilitate in Establishing Income Generating Activities (IGA).     
  • Assist in Organizing & conducting trainings on Livelihoods activities
  • Distribution and implementation of activities in community level with households.
  • Ensure documentation of all related activities in soft & hard copies.
  • Submit work plans & activity reports.
  • Participation in project related meetings/trainings/workshops etc.
  • Ensure complete & advance preparation of materials & stationary to be used in the trainings/ activities.
  • Ensure timely submission of weekly/monthly work plans.
  • Supervising of volunteers to ensure proper implementation of activities.
Person Specification:
  • Graduate in Social Work, Development Studies, Agriculture, Disaster Management or other related field
  • Minimum of 3 years work experience in a related field
  • Experience of working within the RC/RC Movement
  • Experience of working in rural areas
  • Experience  in cash activities (cash for work, cash for training)
  • Valid driving licence for motorbikes
  • Sound interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Fluent in English and Bangla
  • High level of attention to details in all aspects of work responsibilities

Community Mobilizer, DRR
The overall responsibility of the Community Mobilizer (DRR) is to ensure that the participating communities and households (with paying special attention to potential vulnerabilities of women, children, elderly and handicapped people) are organized, trained, and provided with adequate information and tools to prepare for, withstand and recover from disaster.
  • Specific duties and responsibilities:
  • Co-responsible for the implementation of DRR activities in line with the plan of action.
  • Co-responsible for organizing activities related to the project, such as trainings, workshops, awareness raising sessions and rallies, competitions, evacuation drills, distributions, baseline surveys, assessments, construction etc.
  • Ensure the participation of women and girls in the activities.
  • Ensure active participation of all members of the communities (e.g. households, woman groups, students, teachers and community members) in the activities.
  • Provide regular updates and write regular reports.
  • Coordinate with BDRCS volunteers, branches, and government and other stakeholders, where appropriate.
  • Conduct any other duty as assigned by supervisor.
