Save the Children invites applications for the following position:
Manager – Child-focused Urban Program (1 position based in Dhaka)
Save the Children in Bangladesh is launching a new program focused on improving the quality of life and future prospects of children in urban slums, with a focus on selected slums in Dhaka. The 10-year program will build on proven interventions while also demonstrating innovative programming that can be taken to greater scale. SCI is looking for a dynamic individual who can lead this initiative, design and roll-out of the program, working closely with the Shishuder Jonno project team, partners and national & international technical experts to make this initiative a success.

  • Coordinate geographic selection process and the assessment of needs, opportunities and challenges related to improving the lives of children;  
  • Manage the urban program design process, working closely with technical program managers, global technical specialists, and sponsorship operations managers;
  • Ensure successful program start up, including detailed planning and selection and capacity building of partners and key staff
  • Oversee subsequent quality implementation of program interventions and activities, maintaining program quality and monitoring program activities and expenditure;
  • Oversee budget, supervise staff and partners
  • Ensure program pilots are used to create evidence that informs broader policies and programs.
  • Maintain liaison and networking with local government counterparts and other agencies.
Requirements:
  • Masters Degree in Education, Sociology, Social Welfare or other related subject, at least 6 years relevant working experiences including 3 years in management and supervisory level, particularly in urban based programming.
  • S/he should have strong ability in problem solving and decision making, excellent interpersonal skills, especially with beneficiaries, local people and elites.
  • The ideal candidate should have excellent communications skills both in English and Bangla, documentation, facilitation & reporting skill, resource and people management skill, high level of computer proficiency in Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook etc.
