Project Director - NHSDP of Kanchan Samity

GO Health Service Selivery Project (NHSDP) is USAID’s largest investment in the health sector of Bangladesh. The project supports the delivery of an essential service package (ESP) of primary healthcare through a nationwide network of 26 local NGOs, 327 community service providers. USAID’s NHSDP service approximately 20 million people of Bangladesh (13 percent of the total population) through this massive network. The project complements Government of Bangladesh’s (GOB) efforts to maximize the reach to poor and underserved population of the country with quality services at an affordable or no cost fee.
Kanchan Samity was established in 1981 to promote sustainable health and population program and to reduce child and maternal deaths. Health has been one of the core competency areas of Kanchan.  Kanchan is a voluntary, non-profitable organization that has been operating at the northern part of the country. It is currently implements programs in health & FP services and Health rights activities to the beneficiaries under the support of Development partners. The organization having it’s head office at Dinajpur and working at Dinajpur, Nilphamari, Joypurhat, Thakurgaon and Kurigram district having total population 1,211,794. The organization promotes positive public health outcomes and alleviates poverty together among its beneficiaries.
The organization invites application from the eligible candidates for the position of Project Director for smooth implementation of USAID/NHSDP goals at Dinajpur, Saidpur, Nilphamari, Joypurhat, Thakurgaon, Birol, Parbatipur, Hakimpur, Rajarhat, Bhurungamari, Rowmari and Rajibpur. 

Main Job Responsibilities: 
Project Director is the key position of this project.
  • Development of project proposal, implementation, management and administration of the project
  • Planning, optimum use of various resources, leading, motivating, controlling and monitoring including checking progress against plan and modification.
  • Responsible for operation & strategic management, financial & marketing management, and information & human resource management;
  • Handling of personnel management issues of different level of  project staff in consultation with the NGO Management Committee and as per NHSDP (NGO Health Service Delivery Project) Personnel manual.  
  • Make periodical assessment of the performance of the project staff and take measure for staff development including identify training needs and facilitate necessary arrangement for their capacity development.  
  • Ensure Preparation of project budget and its revision as per NHSDP guideline
  • Prepare and timely submission of Monthly, Quarterly, Semi-Annual and Annual reports to NHSDP Head office and government official as per their requirement.
  • Ensure that all the clinics are fully complying with the NHSDP Technical Standards, Manuals, polices and procedures  and ESP services are delivered as per high standard
  • Provide supportive supervision to all staff  so that the project achieve the desired objectives
  • Develop long term sustainability plans and initiate cost effective project operations
  • Ensure compliance with NHSDP Finance & Accounting and other manuals policies and procedures
  • Coordinate with NHSDP office and update them on project activities on regular basis
  • Coordinate with GOB, other NGOs and private sector institutions and other stakeholders to expand the range of services and update them on project activities.
  • keep close contact with the management of Kanchan Samity and update them  on various aspects of the project on regular basis
  • Attend meeting/workshop organized by NHSDP and other stakeholders and represent the project as well as Kanchan Samity
  • Make field visit on regular basis and to monitor and provide technical guidance to project staff for further improvement in quality service delivery.
Educational Requirements:
Masters in Social Science or Business Management or Medical Graduate.  Higher training/ degree in Public Health will be valued as a preferred knowledge.

Experience Requirements:Minimum 7 years  senior Management experience in Public Health/Essential Health Service Project related project.

Additional Job Skills Requirement:
  • Must have good understanding of maternal health, family planning and reproductive health issues and relevant preventive and curative services both at urban and rural communities.
  • Capacity to conceptualizing and writing/developing  project proposals; preparation of work plan; project management; human resource management; project monitoring and supervision; Manage and ensure quality of training and follow-up; coordination and negotiation and problem solving.
  • Excellent English (Speaking, Writing), communication and presentation skills, Experience of participatory programmed planning
  • Excellent computer skill in MSWord, Excel and PowerPoint.
